Last week when I left our regular craft group where we make "fillers" for the Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes, I made a wild promise to bring 100 little rag dolls with me the next time we met. The other ladies winked, and said they would not hold me to that promise.
Well! It has been six days since and so far I have 95 dolls completed. (Hard going ... needless to say I have done hardly anything else this week!) The bad news is I have run out of sticks for my hot glue gun which I use to attach the hair. I guess I could sew them on, but I don't really want to. ... So now I must go shopping which takes a round trip of almost two hours on the bus. Thankfully, I only need to complete another 5 dolls to make good on my promise. Umbrella in hand, I hope it does not rain too much while I am out shopping ... there are clouds looming overhead!
In a couple of weeks, we get to visit the warehouse where they check each box that was donated ... that's where the "fillers" come in. If there is any space in the box, and since we don't like paying to ship air, something age appropriate is put in to fill the gap.
