The covers of this journals are stained and varnished. The front panel is padded and covered with a heavy cotton fabric with colourful flower pattern. The main background colour of the fabric is navy blue.. The spine has six strings of beads forming a sort of tassel which is further decorated with hand made and hand painted beads. The front edges of the books pages are individually hand cut "Ocean Wave" style as shown in the graphic.
The method of binding used for this book which is very strong and sturdy, also allows it to open completely flat for writing, pasting or sketching. It is quite similar to that of coptic binding. Each group of pages in the stitched binding is enclosed with a pale apple green coloured page so the stitched spine shows all green.
