Shades of brown Journal - Rags & Riches

This journal has a mixture of different fabrics and textures. Some glass beads which you may not be able to see in the photo. Textured raggy wool, strips of fabric and brown wool croched together to make a thick sort of fluffy panel. The rope tie is again made with jute twine, strips of fabric, wool and that lovely raggy wool all plaited together, The button is cut with a hole saw and connected with a small round ruby colored bead. The MDF that I cut the button out of has been stained with oak stain.

For this journal, I found a new type of contact cement to glue the panel to the plywood cover. It is a water based contact cement made by Selleys "KWIK GRIP ADVANCED Contact Adhesive" and it is very nice to use. It drys clear ... which is a good feature compared with regular contact cement which dries to a ugly mustard color. This one cleans up with water ... another great advantage. So there you go! Something new for you to try.
