BOOK 0028 - Rustic Earthy Journal with Aboriginal Dot Art, Wood Carved Gecko, Bead Tassel.
Inspired by an Aboriginal painting this earthy, rustic journal is full of outback, down under charm. It was in the making for a couple of weeks until I found the little wood carved Gecko which just seemed to belong. It was just the thing I needed to finish it off. Choosing the beads was fun. I must admit I got a bit carried away and eventually spent about 4 hours trying out different bead combinations before I felt perfectly happy with the results. The background is heavy cotton fabric to which I added hand painted dot art.
Each of the three main cords are crossed at the back of the spine for added strength and stability. The book also opens flat for writing, pasting or sketching in a similar fashion to that of the coptic binding technique.
This little book would look gorgeous on a coffee table and would also make a wonderful gift for someone who likes rustic, earthy things.
